"From March 13 on, I have helped some 200 people get home. I have answered every call, every text message, every email, and Facebook message”
I started working from home in October after my father became sick with heart issues. I needed to be near him and most of all available 24-hours a day to take care of him. I was worried sick that after being in an office for 39 years that I would lose business, but my focus was him.
My dad had 9 children, eight of them boys!! For the first time in my working life, I changed the order of my priorities. My dad was number one, my animals (2 horses, three chickens and a dog) my home and myself was number 2. And my job was now number 3!
My dad passed away on Friday the 13th in December at the age of 89, and I was by his side right to the end. I feel as though the care I gave my dad prepared me for the role of caregiver that I am in now. From March 13 on, I have helped some 200 people get home. I have received phone calls anywhere from 4 and 5 in the morning to midnight from all over the world. Running on about ten hours of sleep in a four-day period, I have answered every call, every text message, every email and Facebook message. Every one of them.
I have one consistent response from all of my clients. THANK YOU! I have been promised dinners out, bottles of wine, cases of beer, gift cards and beach parties! I didn't really realize how many customers I had and the lives I have touched until this week. I have helped people get home that were not even my clients. I am charging them, but I did not say no to anyone.
